EDL victims?

posted by: Matthew Collins | on: Sunday, 30 September 2012, 10:44

Kevin Smith & Friend
Kevin Smith & Friend

Forget what the EDL are moaning about, they themselves created the violence in Walsall yesterday and local organiser Kevin Smith seems to have positively enjoyed himself.

EDL thugs attacked police officers with lumps of wood and showered them with bricks and bottles too. There have been 28 arrests so far.

Perhaps it is time that the authorities stopped believing that the EDL "peacefully protest".

They are all thugs. This cycle of violence is no coincidence.

With the EDL crying in their pints and declaring that police brutality was the order of the day in Walsall today, at least one EDL activist is prepared to tell the real truth regarding how most of their injuries were caused.

Simon Blewitt from Chessington,Kingston Upon Thames admits that the behaviour of the EDL in Walsall today was as violent as ever and that his and others injuries were in fact inflicted upon themselves.

Very poor day for the far-right right across Britain today. The SDL have been deported back to England from Edinburgh and the EDL in Walsall claim they've been attacked a a million strong "Muslim mob".

EDL Activist Sympathizes With Child Abuse

posted by: Simon Cressy | on: Friday, 28 September 2012, 20:15

Lisa Orsler
Lisa Orsler

An EDL activist has today revealed she sympathizes with some cases of child abuse.

Lisa Orsler, who lives in the Dagenham area can be regularly seen at EDL demonstrations with such unsavory characters as Gil Gould, Roger Firth and Alan Furniss.

It seems our Lisa is a little bit of a hypocrite. She is very vocal when it comes to child abuse when the perpetrators are Muslims, however, she is prepared to turn a blind eye when the accused is a white, middle class teacher from East Sussex.

Orsler, who is referring to 30 year old maths teacher Jeremy Forrest was arrested today on suspicion of child abduction by French police after disappearing with 15 year old schoolgirl Megan Stammers.

Megan, 15, had been reported missing by her family after she failed to turn up for school in Eastbourne last Friday.

Far-right round-up

The "master" race
The "master" race

Blood and Honour had a little shindig in the countryside last weekend, not that we get to see much of their faces these days, but this is what the master race looks like if anyone is interested.

A similar assortment will be in Oldham this Saturday for a gig in support of the Toy-town terrorists of the Combined ex-Forces (CxF). What joy..

It's been an up and down week for Nick Griffin who is making a real habit of talking tough down the lens of a video camera and attacking Stephen Lennon of the EDL. History says that Lennon has a very short fuse and Griffin may have pushed Lennon over the edge. No doubt Lennon will respond as soon as he finishes whichever bender he is on this week.

The bad news for Griffin is that Jim Dowson has decided to throw his not inconsiderable dubious marketing talents behind the English Democrats, the party where people who hate Griffin tend to end up. Dowson's decision should help both raise the English Democrats coffers and Griffin's blood pressure. But it'll all end in tears. Mark my words.

Still, Griffin does have the apparent admiration of Rod Liddle to fall back on. Liddle wrote in yesterday's Sun newspaper how "I'm no fan of the British National Party, because I hate racism," but the BNP had been warning about grooming since 2001.

Liddle obviously forgets that they also warned that Jews ran the world, lied about the Holocaust [Jewish conspiracy], believe climate change was a myth [Jewish conspiracy] and that black people are inferior to the handsome white race. Of course, at that time one of the BNP lead organisers was a convicted gang rapist and only a couple of years ago another BNP organiser was imprisoned for grooming a young girl in Blackburn also.

Liddle continued that it was "No wonder, then, that so many local people gave up hope in the civilised mainstream parties and turned towards the BNP. This is what happens when political correctness gets in the way of common sense and common decency."

Liddle is hardly one to lecture on common decency. That's probably why he writes for the Sun.

The British Facebook Party, the political wing of the EDL are busy doing nothing to help Kevin Carroll not get elected to the job of Police and Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire.

Not to be outdone in the race to be idiot of the week, Carroll has been photographed outside of New Scotland Yard for a leaflet that nobody is likely to receive.

Scotland Yard is the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police. Obviously Kevin is unaware that Bedfordshire is not in London? How can somebody who is in and out of police stations not find one in the whole of Bedfordshire to stand outside of?

Big idiot

Exclusive: Griffin's enemy gets in to bed with the opposition!

The Scotsman defeats the Welsh dragon
The Scotsman defeats the Welsh dragon

If there is one person in the far-right that Nick Griffin truly despises, it is his former business partner Jim Dowson.

Between 2007 and 2010, the Belfast based anti-abortionist raised millions of pounds for the BNP by fronting up the BNP's dodgy call centre on the outskirts of the city.

When Dowson and Griffin went their separate ways, it led to court cases and allegations of kidnapping while large quantities of cash exchanged hands in car-parks.

Not only did Dowson make the BNP, he very nearly broke them too. He is the one man Griffin truly fears.

Now, as well as running his own party, it appears that the Scotsman has offered his services to The English Democrats (English Dems), which is home to a large number of former BNP members, including Griffin's former leadership rival Eddy Butler.

When Butler left the BNP, as well as attacking Griffin endlessly, he also attacked Dowson on a regular basis.

Now however, it appears that Butler has recognised Dowson's talents (and the fact that Dowson has access to thousands of former BNP addresses) and Dowson is on board raising cash for the party.

Griffin will not be a happy man this morning, and this just pushes the English Democrats right into the deep mire that is the ultra-right.

Further testing times ahead for Nick Griffin.

Nick Griffin: plying himself with beer for years
Nick Griffin: plying himself with beer for years

You may have heard how the BNP and EDL are ther great protectors of young children in this country. However, it appears they are as selective as they are self appointed.

Yesterday, eight men were jailed in Derby for plying 15-year old girls with drinks, drugs and gifts in exchange for sex.

Like all grooming cases, we condemn this abhorrent behaviour. We do not care who the perpretrators are-what colour, race etc, etc. It's just right that justice is done.

So why were the BNP and EDL not out in numbers yesterday for the sentencing of Stefan Godfrey, Anthony Lambert, John Shaw, Mark Adaouri, Ijaz Ahmend, Colin Simpson, Ian Yeoman and David Shardlow?

The men, with an average age of 42, were sentenced each for up to seven years, yet there's not been a word from either the BNP or the EDL about this.

Is it that they just do not care when it does not suit them?

New Yorkers respond to Geller's hate posters

Last week I reported that Muslim-hater Pam Geller (through the American Freedom Defence Iniative) was placing 10 adverts on the New York subway which describe Muslims as "savages". The adverts have been placed to coincide with the opening of the UN General Assembly, at which most world leaders will attend.

The posters simply say: "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."

I'm not going to reproduce the offending posters but I did like this article on Huffington Post and the responses from the public

Irresponsible, counter-productive and downright wrong

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Saturday, 22 September 2012, 21:50

The $100,000 bounty put on the head of the man who made the Innocence of Muslims film by Pakistani Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour is irresponsible, counter-productive and just downright wrong.

While he claims he is doing this to frighten off other potential blasphemers, he is in fact only adding to the problem. His 'bounty' will be used by racists and anti-Muslim haters as proof of Islam as an intolerant religion and only encourage them to carry out more stunts like this provocative film. His bounty will also breathe new life into the Islamist and salafist demonstrations which could lead to more violence and deaths which in turn will further portray Islam as a violent and intolerant religion.

Up until now most of the demonstrations have been orchestrated by Islamist and ultra-conservative Salafist groups, who were only too keen to use the inflammatory film for their own political purpose. While many Muslims were offended by the film, and its insulting portrayal on Mohammad, the overwhelming majority ignored the protests and distanced themselves from the violence. And, as we saw so graphically yesterday, as 30,000 marched in Benghazi and ransacked Islamist militia compounds, there was even a Muslim backlash against those stocking the violence.

This has all been undermined by Bilour and his outrageous and idiotic announcement.

The bounty is morally and politically wrong. Freedom of speech should be sacrosanct in a democracy and while there should be legal limits when it comes to incitement and violence this freedom to criticise should extend to all religions and political views. I'm sure that most Muslims probably agree with this too, just as most Christians, Jews and even atheists would.

The Pakistani Government have distanced themselves from Bilour's comments but that is simply not good enough. The only way to prove that his views were wrong and not shared is by sacking him immediately. And they need to do that soon.

Attendance for the two hour protest fluctuated between 50 and 100 people.

The English Defence League threatened a counter-protest but only a couple of them turned up.

Muslims rise up against Islamist extremes but 'Counter-Jihads' remain silent

30,000 people took to the streets against the Islamist militias
30,000 people took to the streets against the Islamist militias

While the anti-Muslim haters of the self-defined ‘Counter-Jihad’ movement whip up fear and hatred against all Muslims, over in Libya there is a real, grassroots ‘Counter-Jihad’ operation going on. Tens of thousands of people have protested against Ansar al-Sharia and other Islamist groups, who people believe were responsible for the assault on the US consulate and the deaths of four Americans, including the US Ambassador.

Militia compounds have been taken over and the headqauarters of Ansar al-Sharia has been set alight.

While the assault on the US consulate might have been the spark, this popular uprising reflects a more general unhappiness with the activities of the Islamist militias since the overthrow of Col Muammar Gaddafi.

So you would imagine that the self-defined ‘Counter-Jihadists’ would have been cheering on this popular anti-Islamist uprising. But no, they were too busy spreading their general anti-Muslim hatred.

Pamela Geller’s Atlas Shruggs website focuses on her anger that CNN cut short an interview about her new poster campaign on the New York subway, in which she describes Muslims as “savages”.

Robert Spencer’s Jihad Watch reports on US collusion with the Muslim Brotherhood, whilst the English Defence League website simply tells the “Muslim world” that they “should get used to being offended.” Over at Gates of Vienna, probably the most important international ‘Counter-Jihad’ blogsite, they carry a clip from SUN TV where “Michael Coren talks about the House of Civilization versus the House of Islam.”

In fact, I’ve just spent the last 30 minutes going through as many of the so-called Counter-Jihadist websites that I can and I cannot find a single mention of the popular protest in Benghazi. But then again they wouldn’t report it as it does not find into their general mindset that all Muslims are the problem.

* HOPE not hate has established a unit to monitor these anti-Muslim haters.

Make a stand for Peace

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Friday, 21 September 2012, 11:20

Today is the International Day of Peace. It is a day when we should reflect on the hatred and turmoil around us; a day when we should seek to do something – however small it may be – to advance the cause of peace and reconciliation.

It is hard to believe that peace appears possible when there are so many wars and conflicts around the world. Over the last few days we have witnessed a depressing spiral of abuse and violence over the Innocence of Muslims film. This provocative film was deliberately designed to provoke a reaction from those in the Muslim world. Most have resisted. Unfortunately, some extremists from the ultra-conservative spectrum of the Muslim community have been only too willing to reciprocate and have used the video to push their own intolerant agenda – with fatal results.

Closer to home, it has now been revealed that the man arrested for conspiracy to commit murder of four people in Greater Manchester, including two female police officers, was a supporter of the English Defence League.

With so much hatred around let us pause and call for peacehttp://action.hopenothate.org.uk/peace

It would seem that hatred and violence is everywhere. But this is not the case. The media might focus on the extremists and on conflict but the vast majority of people – most of us reading this message – want to live in peace. We want to get on with our lives and raise our families in a world without hate. Just as those behind the insulting Innocence of Muslim video are a tiny handful of right-wing extremists from the 'counter jihadist' and Christian fundamentalist fringe, so those violently protesting do not represent the vast majority of Muslims. The problem is that non-Muslims do not always hear the Muslim 'voice' condemning that violence and too often only the extremists are heard. I am glad that some lessons have been learned and this time around mainstream Muslims organisations have joined the calls for calm and attacked those using violence.

The International Day of Peace gives us a chance to say that extremists do not speak for us. We have produced a simple logo which we are urging out supporters to share with their friends and leave a message on our Peace Wall.

Make a stand for a better world
http://action.hopenothate.org.uk/peace

The Olympics showed that a positive, peaceful and inclusive identity can be created. It might not last as the memory of the Olympics fades and economic realities bite, but it does show what is possible. It also shows how people – of all colours, backgrounds and faiths – can find a positive identity which we all share, and in which we all have a place.

Hatred and extremism is with us and HOPE not hate will be unrelenting in opposing it. Let us also celebrate what is good within society and remember that the vast majority of us, from whatever background or creed, want to live peacefully together.

Please join us in making a stand for peace and write on our Peace Wall.

A downward spiral of violence and extremism

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Thursday, 20 September 2012, 15:50

I really fear we are going to see a downward spiral of violence and anti-Muslim hatred over the coming days and possibly weeks. The so-called 'Counter-Jihadists' (real definition ‘Muslim haters’) know full well that an incendiary video, poster, cartoon or burning will create a reaction from extremists across the world.

I'm sure that most Muslims are offended by insulting language and images of Mohammad but the protests we are seeing with depressing frequency are the work of extremists who are using these incidents for their own warped ends. This is not a case of Muslim rage - as some media outlets have described - but extremists using these insults to further their own extremist agenda.

There have been two protests in London so far. One, last Friday, was organised by Anjem Choudary and his Al-Muhajiroun network. Then on Sunday there was another protest, this time organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir. There were about 1,000 people on this protest, which is a fair number but hardly representative of the wider Muslim community. So incensed were Hizb ut-Tahrir that their demo carried the slogan "America - Get out of Muslim lands."

Last week there was the Innocence of Muslims video. This week we have a French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, publishing obscene cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. Next week we will have Pam Geller's outrageous "savage" posters (http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/blog/article/2179/geller-stokes-anti-muslim-hatred)

But I fear that this will only be the beginning. These Muslim haters know that any stupid stunt is going to cause a reaction, and probably a violent one at that. These Islamist extremists and Salafists, who are behind the vast majority of the protests, will happily respond by organising yet more demonstrations. The Muslim haters know that the images of Islamists attacking buildings and murdering people only reinforce the view of some that Islam is a violent and intolerant religion. The Islamists know that offensive and provocative cartoons will reinforce the view of some Muslims that the Western world hates Islam.

There is a depressingly symbiotic relationship between the Muslim haters and the very people they claim to oppose. They need each other. In fact, they welcome the actions of the other to justify their own activities.

This has to stop but this is not going to happen on its own. None of us can stay silent on this now or we risk the whole agenda being dominated by extremists on both sides who have no interest in reducing the tensions. Civil society has to demand an end to this. Community and faith leaders have to speak out before the violence gets out of control. Politicians, who all seem depressingly silent on the issue, need to become more vocal.

These extremists don't speak for anyone except themselves and if the mainstream majority - of all faiths and none - don't speak up soon and isolate the extremists then the downward spiral of violence and extremism will continue.

Sean Witheridge

Sean Witheridge could be described as one of the "New Breed" of BNP organisers.

I'd prefer to call him a racist idiot.

Witheridge lives in the Wiltshire village of Shrewton and is the BNP's Salisbury organiser. He stood as a parliamentary candidate in 2010 as well as a Wiltshire County Council candidate in 2009.

He likes to tell people he isn't a racist posting on his Facebook page "Another great turn out for leafleting tonight. We even had a coloured woman come out and thank us for the VOF and leaflet"

He continues " I told her "My sweet we are not at all "Racist" -Its just what you have been fed and brainwashed by the State Controlled Media Circus".

I wonder what that same woman might be thinking if she saw the large amount of screen grabs taken from Witheridge's Facebook account?

Vile racism, mocking the disabled and violence, Witheridge is certainly a contender as one of the vilest creatures we have witnessed within the online far right community.

We will be passing all our evidence onto Wiltshire police.

Will the BNP expell Witheridge? I doubt it, with the South West region in terminal decline, the BNP need all the members they can muster including racist idiots like Sean Witheridge.

Geller stokes anti-Muslim hatred

US Counter-Jihad activist Pam Geller
US Counter-Jihad activist Pam Geller

US 'Counter-Jihad' activist Pam Geller is stoking anti-Muslim hatred by producing a poster for the New York subway which declares Muslims as 'savages'.

The advert, which will go up in ten subway stations next week to coincide with the opening of the UN General Assembly, reads:

"In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."

The New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) initially refused the posters but have been forced to by a court order.

Geller told Sky News: "I will not abridge my freedoms so as not to offend savages.

"I won't take responsibility for other people being violent.

"I live in America and in America we have the first amendment."

These posters are obviously designed to stoke up hatred against Muslims and coming so shortly after the Innocence of Muslims film, again produced by Counter-Jihadists, will create a reaction from Muslims and give ammunition to Islamist extremists.

We are entering a very dangerous period where 'Counter-Jihadists' and Islamist extremists are feeding off each other's extremism to justify their own activities. I'll be writing more about this shortly.

Who could forget the time when a half empty coach from Gateshead in the North East carrying EDL supporters had a minor prang on its way to Preston for a rally?

The coach, which carried twenty five EDL supporters, finally made it to Preston where the EDL had running battles with the police for the rest of the day.

The little prang later made national news headlines when despite only twenty five EDL supporters being on the coach, a staggering seventy eight people made claims for whiplash allegedly suffered while on the journey!

The coach hire firm, Caris Coaches from Gateshead, were not happy. They even suggested some EDL supporters were attempting insurance fraud (heaven forbid!!)

Well, Flag day appears to have arrived for Mark Walls from Gateshead. We have no idea what he is claiming for, but let's hope he's not suffering from any long term injuries. If he was, it would make the dozens of photographs we have of him on EDL demonstrations appear like cruelty on our part.

BNP returns to Antisemitic conspiracy theories

posted by: Matthew Collins | on: Wednesday, 19 September 2012, 13:11

O'Sullivan: Blames Jews for 9/11
O'Sullivan: Blames Jews for 9/11

The BNP are no strangers to blaming the Jews for the ills of the world. Since the party was formed in 1982 they have blamed Jews for all manner of things; withholding the cure for cancer, causing cancer, poisoning the water supply and, most openly and notoriously, denying that the Holocaust ever happened. In fact, the BNP's leader Nick Griffin described the very idea that the Nazis used gas chambers as "absolute nonsense".

Holocaust denial is not a crime in this country. The BNP have always been quick to remind anyone that will listen that they have broken no laws in telling lies about history and besmirching millions upon millions of dead people. It has been their vain duty to lift what they must evidently see as some kind of mere blemish against the good name of the Nazi regime the BNP admire so much.

As the BNP crept into the political mainstream during the latter part of the last decade, open Jew-hating and Holocaust denial was abandoned by the party. It still existed at its very core, but as they didn’t quite manage to convince the general public of their Holocaust theories, they were hidden away. Even Nick Griffin's seminal masterpiece "Mindbenders", which listed, among others, Children's TV presenters as being part of a "Zionist Conspiracy" at the BBC, was seemingly airbrushed from party history. [The object of the book was to "unmask" how Jews dominated the public broadcaster, but it only managed to actually "unmask" twenty-three Jews in employment at the whole of the BBC].

Since their very public decline, we've begun to see a return to the bad old ways of the party. Anti-Semitism and conspiracy have returned to the forefront of the British National Party. Not out of necessity, but because it has always been there under the surface. And with decline has come the very true nature of the party. Little incidents keep cropping up, as does the word "Zionist". Everywhere.

So welcome back the anti-Jewish conspiracy theories, and say goodbye to the few Jewish BNP members there were.

Last week the BNP re-launched its Tameside branch. Tameside used to be a large branch and used to stand a number of candidates at election time.

Gary Tumulty is the acting North West organiser and is also the Salford organiser. He made his partner, Kay Pollitt, the Tameside organiser despite the fact they both live in Salford. They both spoke at the branch re-launch alongside Eddy O'Sullivan, the BNP's Manchester organiser, who also lives in Salford. According to Tumulty, scrawling on their blogsite "Eddy O'Sullivan gave a very powerful speech about a conspiracy theory surround 9/11". (sic)

I have no idea what O'Sullivan does for a living, but according to Tumulty (who also fails to mention O'Sullivan's expertise), "Eddy is not normally one for conspiracy theory's (sic)”, but O'Sullivan has conducted his own investigation into the 9/11 terror attacks in New York in 2001, and "after reading a report produced by monkey see monkey do", O'Sullivan went on to outline that "9/11 was an inside job and conspired by Zionists".

An inside job? Well yes, because, in case you were not aware, the BNP now believes that all governments are "occupied" by secret societies of Jews.

No wonder that, according to Tumulty, "All members very inspired with Eddy" (sic) for delivering "the real facts naming and shaming the zionist's (sic) involved and truth to what they have just been up to."

BNP members may be suspicious, but how conspiracy driven they can be made in their quest remains to be seen. Much of the BNP's rise has been on the back of their Islamaphobia and racism post 9/11. Islamaphobia has been the prime focus for years for the extreme right in the UK, and in particular the BNP’s enemies in the EDL. It’s become a rather crowded corner of the world for them all.

Now, however, the BNP are back to blaming the Jews, no matter how mad or how bad it makes them seem. There has been a marked rise in 9/11 conspiracy theories over the last few years, though mainly from Islamists and conspiracy nuts.

In a desperate search for a new focus in the squeeze that is the Islam-baiting far-right, the BNP has returned to type.

The Jews did it!

EDL Man Laughs at Police Deaths

Alan Furniss
Alan Furniss

I have spoken before about the violent EDL thug Alan Furniss.

We posted before about how he intended to attack counter demonstrators at an EDL demo that was about to be held in Bristol back in July.

Furniss has proven today just how depraved and disgusting he really is by laughing at the news that two young female police officers have been murdered in the Greater Manchester area.

PC Nicola Hughes, 23, and PC Fiona Bone, 32, suffered fatal injuries in an incident in Mottram, Tameside. They were killed during a "routine" call-out which led to the arrest of a man wanted by Greater Manchester Police for murder.

Marsh: Full of excuses and gas
Marsh: Full of excuses and gas

The EDL is now falling to bits. That is no exaggeration. Now should be the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party.

The EDL's "number three" Tony Curtis has left the group after the Walthamstow debacle and rather than step up to the proverbial plate and be a helpful soul, hooligan Jeff Marsh is enjoying sticking the knife in instead.

We often warn EDL leader Stephen "miniature" Lennon about the no-good intentions of Jeff Marsh. Someone has to, Marsh does not appear to have the "balls" to do it himself. He is already suggesting that people go shopping in London instead of attending the next planned demonstration in Walthamstow, as well as painting the EDL's leadership as idiots on his private facebook page.

One grab passed to us by our friends at EDL News recently, shows Marsh taking great delight in mimicking Lennon's infamously distraught video rants. Last December Marsh went as far to mock up a picture of Lennon doing a video where he complained (once again) of being attacked. And then tonight, he sticks the knife further into the diminishing Fuhrer's back by listing a series of reasons (not that he needs any) as to why Marsh cannot produce any "top boys" for EDL demonstrations.

Of particular interest in Marsh's lastest attack on the EDL leader is that the likes of Paul Pitt (Essex) and Kevin Docherty (West Yorkshire) giving their approval to Marsh's backstabbing.

We think that Mr Lennon's days are well and truly numbered.

We've choked off their funding

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Monday, 17 September 2012, 11:33

Great news! At the end of last week European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefcovic announced new rules for the funding of pan-European political parties and their associated think-tanks. One of these changes now requires EU funding only be given where these parties and foundations observe the values of the European Union, “namely respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities”. The last part, on minority rights, is a new addition.

The BNP will now struggle to receive any additional EU money.

These rule changes are a result of pressure first exerted by HOPE not hate after we learnt that the BNP, along with French and Hungarian fascist MEPs were to receive €300,000 of public money to fund their political work. We immediately contacted British MEPs, who were unaware of this, and they began demanding a rule change.

We have choked off a €100,000 a year funding stream from the BNP. This is a great victory.

The BNP is furious. That's €100,000 they can't spend on their racist literature. They were also hoping to establish a think-tank to access even more money. That too should be stopped.

All we have to do is convince the European Parliament and European Commission that the BNP, and their French and Hungarian counterparts, do not comply with these new rules. We plan to send a briefing to the EU, EP and all MEPs in the next few weeks.

I'm also pleased to announce that issue four of the HOPE not hate magazine is out. http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/gethope/

The new issue reveals how a leading anti-Muslim activist in the United States has offered to donate to the EDL's co-leader Kevin Carroll's campaign to become a police commissioner. We expose the violent nazis who are behind a campaign of intimidation and violence across Merseyside. We explore online radicalisation and how Al Qaeda is increasingly adopting the same tactics to incite as their violent far-right counterparts and carries an interview with Frances O'Grady, the first female General Secretary of the TUC.

You can subscribe to HOPE not hate magazine here: http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/gethope/

HOPE not hate has scored a huge victory by blocking funding for the BNP. Please help us continue our work by reading our magazine.

An hour after I wrote that the EDL's Tony Curtis had formed a breakaway group from the EDL, he has quit the group!

Despite calling for unity, Curtis does not want the NF involved in the group so he has quit, despute spending hours and hours devising the rules for the group's Yahtzee wing.

So, Curtis has now left his group the New Patriotic Alliance.

Stand by for splinter group 338 any time now...

Another weekend - another splinter group

Curtis: Another scorned suitor
Curtis: Another scorned suitor

Tony Curtis appears to have joined the long list of people either pushed or jumped from the EDL leadership.

Curtis, from Nottingham, lasted longer than most that get close to the Cousins Grimm but he must have known his time was up when Kevin Carroll, Stephen Lennon and Paul Weston fled Walthamstow earlier this month and could find no rooom for him in their getaway car.

The final straw it is rumoured, was there being no seat on the gravy plane that has taken Lennon, Carroll and Weston in the last week to places such as Slovakia, New York and Florence.

In an angry statement issued on facebook early today (that's where these things happen by the way,) Curtis wrote of feeling "ostracised" by those he thought were like a family to him, namely the Luton "mafia" of EDL leaders' Kevin Carroll and Stephen Lennon.

As others have found, the cousins close rank when someone starts thinking they have their feet under the table with them. And so whatever it was that Curtis did to upset the duplicitous duo [read a book, perhaps?] it means a long walk into the wilderness for Curtis.

The far-right is split beyond almost repair at the moment, so the decision by Curtis to form a new group comes as no surprise. The "New Patriot Alliance" (NPA) was formed by Curtis on the 3rd September but did not come to light until today. Its mission statement begins rather predictably, with a call for "unity", something which the other 337 splinter groups are also calling for.

After that, there are some eight or so more paragraphs about military tactics, beef Wellington, the rules of Yahtzee etc, etc and then as no split from the EDL could be complete without, a warning about drugs:

"The NPA reserves the right to expel any individual without consultation proven to be engaging in behaviour that is likely to promote the use of drugs illicit materials and causing alarm to others."

The EDL (Lennon) has responded in its usual way by claiming Curtis is probably just another Nazi, but Lennon and Carroll know that Curtis is another of their dwindling circle who knew where more than a few of the proverbial bodies are buried.

Already this weekend the National Front has launched an attack on the EDL which even contained a threat to hang Lennon! This has been backed up by a video repsonse from the BNP's Nick Griffin to Lennon's rather wild video rant last week.

The EDL is on its last legs. Lennon may be desperate to stir another near riot in Walthamstow by threatening to show his silly hate film there, but Nick Griffin can smell blood. We know that Nick loves nothing more than to feed off the corpses of political rivals and this is where Lennon's greatest enemy has set his large appetite for now.

When Griffin smells money, he'll eat the whole bloody lot of the EDL to get at it.

Griffin: Yes, we know what he means...

Curtis: His feelings are hurting

How racist and intolerant are the British?

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Sunday, 16 September 2012, 06:01

Today's Observer reports on a new survey, conducted by YouGov, which seems to suggest that despite the positiveness of the Olympics Britain is still a country where many people are deeply hostile to immigration, multiculturalism and Muslims.

The YouGov survey, conducted with 1,750 respondents, found that 41% of people would be more likely to vote for a party that promised to stop all immigration, compared with 28% who said they would be less likely to support a group that promoted such policies.

In addition, 37% admitted that they would be more likely to support a political party that promised to reduce the number of Muslims in Britain and the presence of Islam in society, compared with 23% who said it would make them less likely.

The only positive was that young people are considerably more tolerant of newcomers and people of other faiths than the older generation.

The question I would like to pose is how racist is Britain? The full survey will be released in the next few days so I shall save my full comment until then.

Making a difference

Money bags no more
Money bags no more

I would just like to draw attention to the article one of my colleagues put up on our website yesterday about changes to the public funding of EU political parties and assocatiated think tanks. One consequence of these changes is that it will make it virtually impossible for the British National Party to receive the public funding it got earlier this year.

The changes, announced by the European Commission's Vice President, came after protests from MEPs from across the political spectrum. They were alerted to this by HOPE not hate.

In stopping the BNP get their hands on £100,000 a year of public money shows that HOPE not hate is making a difference.

Exchanging research about the British far right

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Saturday, 15 September 2012, 05:27

Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking at the Exchange Knowledge on Far Right Extremism conference. The event brought together 70 academics, researchers and practitioners and I have to say it was one of the best academic events I had been to. The day was organised by Matthew Goodwin and sponsored by the Economic and Social Research Council.

I spoke about the ‘Evolution of the far right’, and there were numerous other sessions more specifically about the BNP, EDL and far right violence.

The conference was the beginning of an eight-month project designed to increase and share the understanding on current research on far right extremism and for academics, policymakers and practitioners to learn from one another. Certainly from a quick look around the room it really was a ‘who’s who’ of people at the forefront of work in this area.

Campaigning against the far right, as carried out by HOPE not hate and others, has long been too detached from research but I really do believe that this is going to change. The more we know about why people are attracted to the far right, the wider issues of public and policy anxieties and research-based policy and campaigning responses then the more successful we are likely to be.

EDL leader threatens to broadcast anti-Muslim film

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Friday, 14 September 2012, 20:24

English Defence League leader Stehpen Lennon is threatening to show the disgusting ‘Innocence of Muslims’ film. HOPE not hate believes that if he does he should immediately be prosecuted for incitement.

The film has been produced by rabid anti-Muslim haters in the US and is deliberately designed to whip up tensions, hatred and violence. Steve Klein, a right wing Christian evangelical who was one of those behind the film, boasted to the US blogsite Huffington Post: “We went into this knowing this was probably going to happen" after the deaths of four Americans in Libya.

Only today 20-year-old Azhar Ahmed, from Dewsbury, was found guilty of sending a grossly offensive message when he wrote on facebook: “all soldiers should die and go to hell”. If he got convicted of that then Lennon should be prosecuted for airing the ‘Innocence of Muslims’ film. He should also be held accountable for any British citizens who are attacked as a consequence.

Lennon might think he will be able to win back the growing number of his dissenters within the EDL by this move but let him be under no illusion that there will be severe consequences if he does broadcast it.

Kev Bryan: NF's deputy wants to save the white race from the BNP
Kev Bryan: NF's deputy wants to save the white race from the BNP

Well, the NF and the BNP went head to head last night in Burnley and despite the tough talk from the NF (most of their literature was about the BNP not being Nazi enough) they still got trounced, coming last of the six candidates in Trinity ward.

The NF will be feeling a little down this morning as a result of this disaster. They worked themselves to the bonehead delivering their leaflets while at the same time seeing our anti-NF and anti-BNP leaflets being delivered. It works out that the NF got one vote for every three hundred leaflets that they delivered. Deputy leader Kev Bryan even took the opportunity of a rare interview to attack the BNP and not properly promote the NF. There will be more calls among their number now to just dump electioneering completely.

Not to be outdone in pointless electioneering, we revisited our old "friend" David Jones this week, with another timely reminder that Nazis are as thick as they are dangerous.

We have a bit of a soft spot for Dave. I once called him a village idiot and he complained angrily that he did not live in a village. I have made a solemn promise never to mention Christine again, either.

Dave's upset again this morning as his plans for a Titanic election campaign have come unstuck already. Having got the dates completely wrong for the elections, he is blaming the council and not himself. Not to worry though, Dave. I'm sure your ship is likely to sink no matter when you sail it.

To avoid another visit from the powers that be, I suggest that Dave records every penny he receives for his campaign. You know what the Tories are like with people receiving undeclared payments whilst claiming benefits...

The war of words between Nick Griffin and Stephen Lennon was as humorous as ever. Even the Daily Telegraph was concerned enough to ask whether Stephen Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson) was having some kind of breakdown. This was in reference to last week's forty odd minute rant by Lennon about people questioning his finances and his commitment to the "cause". Lennon laid into everyone as he pleaded poverty (tis true, I hear his Mum has been forced to drive his Bentley before the police get their hands on it) and Stephen was most unhappy that some EDL people had taken exception to he and Kevin Carroll leaving them in Walthamstow earlier in the month.

Lennon's attacks on BNP leader Nick Griffin during the video were very personal and angry. With Griffin now feeling he can attack the diminishing EDL without fear of reprisal it seems that it's time for an open warfare between them.Griffin has told those close to him that with Lennon facing possibility of being sent to jail later this year, now is time for the BNP to finish off the EDL once and for all. Given that at times Griffin and Lennon share the same bodyguards, it's not surprising that Lennon heard of Griffin's speech in Essex to that very effect just before the decision to begin his video rant.

Like all far-right leaders in the history of this country, Lennon also pleaded extreme poverty. He claimed in the video rant that he is three months in arrears with his mortgage payments and that he and his wife have separated as a result of the financial stresses he has been placed under (by his own actions). Having made his case and pleaded poverty, he then flew off to New York for a conference with cousin Kevin Carroll and the very posh Paul Weston.

Promises by the EDL to return to Walthamstow after their humiliation earlier this month could be little more than threats, too. The Barry based bullshit artist Jeff Marsh has begun instructing his people to prepare to go shopping in London instead!

We're still waiting for the people of Walthamstow to receive their apology after the racist lies by the BNP and the EDL from the last time they were there.

It has been a big week for apologies as you may be aware. The BNP's Adam Walker made one about his conviction related to chasing young children with a knife.Walker teaches karate in Spennymoor to young children. Surely something should be done about that very soon, too?

Salafists, Counter-Jihadists and Romney’s advisor

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Thursday, 13 September 2012, 08:39

Steve Klein, the inspiration behind the anti-Muslim film
Steve Klein, the inspiration behind the anti-Muslim film

The attack on the US consulate in Libya, in which four people including the US Ambassador were killed, and the US embassy in Cairo highlight the on-going dangers from political and religious extremism throughout the world.

On one side there are the Salafists, extreme conservative Sunni Muslims who favour a 'literalist' interpretation of Islam (and from whom so-called violent or 'Salafi jihadists' are often drawn). On the other side is the growing ‘Counter-Jihad’ movement in Europe and North America which is whipping up anti-Muslim hatred.

The pretext for the attacks in Libya and Egypt was the production of an anti-Islam film ‘The Innocence of Muslim’. Enraged with a really derogatory portrayal of Mohammad, people spontaneously attacked the two US diplomatic buildings in the belief that the US Government was somehow responsible. However, it now appears that this film was indeed a pretext and the attacks were planned sometime before and were carried out two days ago to coincide with the anniversary of 9/11.

The film ‘The Innocence of Muslim’ is no innocent movie but a disgusting piece of cheap propaganda to elicit exactly the sort of reaction that we witnessed in the Middle East. It depicts Mohammad in the human form, claims he is a fraud and even portrays him as gay. The film was supposedly produced by Californian estate agent Sam Bacile, who claims to be an Israeli Jew who raised $5m from 100 Jewish donors to fund the film.

And that is where the trail runs dry. ‘Sam Bacile’ claims to have gone to ground but it is questionable whether he really exists or at least what he has said about himself is true. Everyone who has seen the film doubts that $5,000 was used to make it, let alone $5m.

What can be proved is the involvement of two hardline Muslim haters with strong links to extremism and the far right. The first is Steve Klein, a Hemet, California based insurance salesman who claims to have led a “hunter-killer team” in Vietnam and is known to have links to the extreme Christian right and the militia movement.

According to Max Blumenthal “Klein is also closely affiliated with the Christian right in California, organizing resentment against all the usual targets — Muslims, homosexuals, feminists, and even Mormons. He is a board member and founder of a group called Courageous Christians United, which promotes anti-Mormon, anti-Catholic and anti-Muslim literature (including the work of Robert Spencer) on its website. In 2002, Klein ran for the California Insurance Commissioner under the American Independent Party, an extremist fringe party linked to the militia movement, garnering a piddling 2 percent of the vote.” (http://maxblumenthal.com/2012/09/meet-the-right-wing-extremist-behind-anti-muslim-film-that-sparked-deadly-riots/)

Klein is also linked in to the Counter-jihad world of Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer.

According to an article on the Huffington Post blog, Klein boasts of inspiring ‘Sam Bacile’ to produce “The Innocence of Muslims,” promising him he would be “the next Theo Van Gogh,” referring to the Dutch columnist and film director who was murdered by a Muslim extremist.

"We went into this knowing this was probably going to happen," Klein told Huffington Post.

The film is being promoted by Pastor Terry Jones, the evangelical preacher from Florida who threatened to burn the Koran in 2010 but backed down after the publicity directly led to US soldiers being killed in Afghanistan.

HOPE not hate followers will also remember that Jones was invited to Luton to address an English Defence League demonstration, which prompted us lead a campaign to have him banned from the country. The Home Secretary did just that but Jones later went on to form links with the National Front and the minuscule England is Ours group of hardline fascists.

US presidential candidate Mitt Romney was quick to denounce the Obama administration for supposedly appeasing extremism by criticising the film. “I think it’s a terrible course for America to stand in apology for our values,” Romney said. “The statement was akin to an apology, and I think was a severe miscalculation.”

Quite why Romney believes a film that deliberately seeks to insult and whip up hatred against Muslims goes against US values remains to be seen, unless that is Romney believes that whipping up hatred against a religion is very much part of the US values he is determined to represent.

Regardless, perhaps Romney should look a bit closer to home before making his next outburst. One of his foreign policy advisors is John Bolton, the former US Ambassador to the United Nations under the last Bush administration. Bolton is a strident critic of Islam and has shared platforms with some of the most prominent ‘Counter-Jihadists’ (anti-muslim) activists around, such as Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer.

Indeed, Bolton was scheduled to speak at the Stop Islamization of Nations (SION) conference in New York on Tuesday, the day of the attacks in Libya and Egypt, though he later cancelled. If he had attended he would have shared a platform with some of the world’s leading anti-Muslim activists, including the EDL’s Stephen Lennon (speaking under the name Tommy Robinson) and Kevin Carroll.

Bolton would have also heard a speech from Dr. Babu Suseelan, a Hindu Human Rights activist, who utilised rhetoric eerily reminiscent of the 1920s Nazi propaganda warning that Islam was a threat because “Muslims will breed like rats.”

Suseelan, an associate of the American Freedom Alliance, continued by telling the audience “Islam can be stopped. It can be wiped out!” During his unsettling speech, Suseelan called on the audience to “join together to wipe out Islam” saying “there is nothing wrong with wiping out Islam.”

Ironically, to laughter and applause, Suseelan ended his speech by saying that “freedom loving people should join together to do so.”

While Bolton seemingly has time for muslim-haters such as Pam Geller he was quick to pin the blame for the death of Ambassador Stevens, and three other consulate staffers, directly on Obama.

The danger from Salafi extremists is growing, much to the delight of the anti-Muslim haters in the Counter-Jihad world as this just justifies and re-confirms their own warped mindset.

Where now for the British far right?

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Wednesday, 12 September 2012, 15:24

The British far-right should be having a ball. With the economy faltering, austerity biting and economic pessimism growing, the conditions for racism and racist scapegoating could hardly be better. But racist groups are contracting and morale is dropping. Will it always be like this?

I’ve just co-authored an essay on the current state of the British far right and I would like you to read it. It charts the recent decline of the British National Party following its disastrous defeat in Barking and Dagenham. It examines how the English Defence League appeared to be replacing the BNP as the main far right threat, but no more. Thousands once joined EDL marches and they counted over 90,000 supporters online but this now seems a distant memory as the group declines amid internal warfare and demoralisation.

I would like you to read my view about the current state of the far right and tell me what you think

Adam's hollow apology

posted by: Matthew Collins | on: Wednesday, 12 September 2012, 12:59

Walker:
Walker:

The BNP's "party manager" Adam Walker has issued an apology for his criminal behaviour.

Walker narrowly avoided prison last week for an incident which involved him leaving a pub in a four wheel drive and chasing after some young boys on their bikes.

Walker admits that he "followed the youths in my Land Rover and when they stopped, I got out of the car, took my craft knife and punctured the tyres of their bicycles. I then got back into my car and left the scene".

Pleading guilty to dangerous driving, possession of a bladed instrument, criminal damage and a Section Four public order offence, Walker now wishes that he could turn the clock back.

The apology appears to be only to his party members and not to the children he terrorised, however. It quickly runs thin with attacks on the children involved, describing them as "anti-social youths" and further complains that he and his solicitor found it hard to gain access to the children's school records.

Walker's advise is that if people have a complaint about anti-social behaviour they should take it to the police and presumably not chase after young children with a knife. We're glad he could clear that up for us because it was only last month that the BNP suggested it was right to take the law into your own hands and announced that the party planned a camapign of victimization and intimidation against people that they did not like.

I think he's only sorry that we was caught and convicted, which is something we expect when the likes of him engage in anti-social behaviour and bullying of young children. Knife crime is a scourge on the good people of this country.

HOPE not hate will be following the election with a blog and comments from our Dutch sister organisation.

Anti-Muslim haters gather in New York

HOPE not hate's report into the 'Counter-Jihad' movement
HOPE not hate's report into the 'Counter-Jihad' movement

Yesterday was the eleventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the USA. It was a time for those who lost their loved ones, and others who were present on that fateful day in New York and Washington DC, to pause and remember what happened.

But for a few others it was a timely excuse to whip up some more anti-Muslim hatred. At a hotel in downtown New York a few hundred 'counter-jihadists' - the polite name for anti-Muslim haters - gathered for the '911 Freedom Congress', a one-day event organised by the newly formed Stop Islamisation of Nations (SION).

The event has been organised by Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer, the two leading activists in the US 'counter-jihad' movement. Among the other speakers were George Bush Jnr's former Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks and NY State Senator David Storobin. Speakers from the UK included Paul Weston, leader of the British Freedom Party, and his deputy Kevin Carroll, who also heads up the violent English Defence League.

A surprise speaker, according to event organiser Pamela Geller, was EDL leader Stephen Lennon, who she claims to have snuck into the country. This is despite Lennon's long list of convictions and having been stopped from entering the US in 2010.

We will produce a full report from inside the event over the next few days.

To learn more about the growing threat of the 'Counter-Jihad' movement I would advice everyone to get a copy of the new report, 'The Counter-Jihad Movement: the global trend feeding anti-Muslim hatred'. It profiles over 550 organisations and individuals and is the most comprehensive resource into this dangerous political trend.

Sick Racists Mock Paralympics

On Monday over 1 million people lined the streets of London to celebrate our successful athletes who competed in the Olympics and the Paralympics.

One couldn't help but feel great pride and inspiration from our competitors, in particular the marvellous achievements of all those who competed in the Paralympics.

However, large sections of the far right chose to mock the disabled competitors rather than celebrate them.

Over the past fortnight, Facebook has been awash with sick jokes mocking the Paralympic athletes.

I'm not going to reproduce them here as quite frankly they are disgusting.

Gil Gould, a leading EDL activist from Essex was one of the worst offenders and seem to take great pleasure in belittling those with disabilities.

Gould who collects Nazi memorabilia, uses the name of his hero Mick Wittman on Facebook.Wittman was a German SS tank commander credited with killing large numbers of British troops duing World War 2.

The Guns of Blackburn

Wherever the English Defence League raise their grubby heads they are never too far away from violence.

The violence attached to the EDL often includes weapons, and in particular firearms.

These wannabe Rambos just can't help posing with guns.

This time it is the turn of several members of the Blackburn EDL division.

One of them Shane Brian also posts a litany of racist abuse on his Facebook page.

We will be passing the details onto Lancashire Police, I'm sure they will be very interested.

Jones is Back: Spot The Mistake.

posted by: Simon Cressy | on: Friday, 7 September 2012, 17:15

We haven't heard much from our old friend Dave Jones.

Pity really,we actually miss him a little as he was always good value for money and regularly made me smile with his idiotic antics.

A kind of Northern "Richard Barnbrook" Jones couldn't stay out of the news for too long.

Who could forget Jones being photographed with a firearm and Nazi flag at his derelict farm and then subsequently being raided by armed police, for which he blamed Hope not Hate.

And then there was his very public expulsion from the insignificant British People's Party followed by his arrest in May for electoral fraud.

Well it seems Jones is back and intends to continue his political career as an independent and has started campaigning in his native Todmorden.

Well done Dave, Good to see your campaign material is of its usual crappy standard.

Griffin Stirs The Pot.

posted by: Simon Cressy | on: Friday, 7 September 2012, 16:10

Nick Griffin has been attempting to stir the pot in Luton again.

Posting on his Twitter account he posted " Tensions in Luton overnight on Marsh Farm & 2 other estates after hit & run killing. White victim."

He continued " Latest news report says victim black. Alleged killer Muslim say locals."

Is it me or is there something we need to be asking Nick and the Luton "locals"?

If it was a hit and run how could they possibly know that the "alleged killer" was a Muslim ?

Did he shout his religion from the window as he drove off at speed ?

EDL Attack Olympic Hero Mo Farah.

posted by: Simon Cressy | on: Friday, 7 September 2012, 14:12

The English Defence League have launched a verbal attack on double gold medal winner Mo Farah.

Farah, who won both the 5,000m & 10,000m gold medals at last months London Olympics was originally born in Somalia, moving to the UK at the age of 8.

Moments after Mo Farah’s 10,000m victory, Mo was asked by a journalist if he’d have preferred to run as a Somali. He replied: “Look mate, this is my country.

“This is where I grew up, this is where I started life. This is my country and when I put on my Great Britain vest I’m proud. I’m very proud.”

The message from the EDL was posted on a number of their divisional Facebook pages.

I'm delighted to announce that the latest issue of HOPE not hate is now out. It contains 48 pages packed with news, views, investigations and interviews.

With TUC Congress starting next week we are delighted to carry an interview with Frances O'Grady, who will shortly become the first female General Secretary of the TUC. She talks about the challenges ahead and her concerns that the austerity cuts will lead to increased racism and scapegoating. She concludes:

"The work of the HOPE not hate campaign has been extraordinary and incredibly important. I want to thank you all for the hard work that you have done as part of our bigger movement.

“You have been on the front line in the fight against fascism and we stand shoulder to shoulder with you. The next few years are going to get tougher and your work will continue to be vital.”

More troubles at a BNP tribunal..

posted by: Sam King | on: Tuesday, 4 September 2012, 12:39

Mish Harrington, aka Mish Bondage
Mish Harrington, aka Mish Bondage

The BNP are no strangers to employment tribunals, least of all Mish and Patrick Harrington who make a habit of grand entrances.

Today the BNP are back in Edinburgh for the employment tribunal involving former staff members of Nick Griffin and Andrew Brons.

Mish Harrington is claiming religious and sexual discrimination against the office of Andrew Brons MEP. So far it has not gone well for her as her vegetarianism has been called into question, leading her to storm out of the hearing twice.

Mish appeares to have trouble with Eddy Butler from Brons's office asking her questions.

Butler quit the BNP two years ago to join the English Democrats but still works for Andrew Brons. Brons will arrive tomorrow to give evidence.

STALINGRAD 1942 : THE HOUR OF COURAGE HAD STRUCK THE CLOCK

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Tuesday, 4 September 2012, 08:02

STALINGRAD 1942 : THE HOUR OF COURAGE HAD STRUCK THE CLOCK

We know what’s at stake and how great the foe’s power,

And what is now coming to pass.
The hour of courage has struck on the clock
And our courage will hold to the last.
The bullets can kill us, but cannot deter;
Though our houses will fall, we shall remain.

Anna Akhmatova, 1942

13 September, 06.45, 1942 the Nazi onslaught on Stalingrad commenced with a bloody vengeance. The sky turned brown from the dust of fragmented buildings, the ground vibrated because of the power of the explosions. The Fascist army's advance continued but faced the most ferocious resistance imaginable. The horror of fighting the Soviet troops on their favoured terrain, the approaching Russian winter, fast became a reality for Hitler's Generals. While German tanks entered the outskirts of Stalingrad the Soviets dug in preparing to fight for every district, every street, every house.

Almost six months later , 2 February 1943 and the defeat of the Nazi forces which had sought to encircle and destroy Stalingrad was complete. Out of each Red Army division sent to defend the city no more than a few hundred soldiers survived, 1.1 million casualties, of which 485,751 lost their lives.

For Hitler the defeat at Stalingrad was the beginning of the end. The story of the Red Army's sacrifice had a powerful effect across the world, especially on resistance movements in occupied Europe. The Russians who had taken the brunt of the German onslaught since 1941 were now turning the tide and a year later would be joined by the Allied forces opening up the second front with the D-Day landings landings at Normandy.

Philosophy Football's 1942-2012 Stalingrad range marks the battle's 70th Anniversary. Inspired by Anna Akhmatova's poem the designs are based on a medal, a fuselage, a propaganda poster, a book title from the time and the slogan with which the Russian people greeted their eventual victory. " Nobody is forgotten. Nothing is forgotten!"

I'd call that a result.

Griffin Accuses Britain of World War 1 Holocaust

posted by: Simon Cressy | on: Sunday, 2 September 2012, 12:42

This was posted yesterday on Nick Griffin's Twitter page.

He accuses Great Britain of carrying out a Holocaust in World War 1.

He seems to have problems when it comes to the subject of The Holocaust, remember he was convicted in 1998 of distributing material likely to incite racial hatred following his statements denying the Holocaust in his magazine The Rune.

During the trial Griffin made his notorious statement: "I am well aware that the orthodox opinion is that six million Jews were gassed and cremated and turned into lampshades. Orthodox opinion also once held that the Earth was flat … I have reached the conclusion that the 'extermination' tale is a mixture of Allied wartime propaganda, extremely profitable lie, and latter witch-hysteria."

BNP lies: Does Griffin have a crystal ball as well as a glass eye?

A bad day for the EDL in Walthamstow today. A desperate Nick Griffin kept tweeting like a spolit child because no-one was paying attention to him. Now here come the racist lies:

The London BNP facebook page is saying there are reports of "ongoing Muslim riots in Walthamstow".

No one that we have spoken to in Walthamstow has seen any burning cars. The police have not reported any either. So how is it that the BNP has managed to see some then? And how did they know what religion these non-existent any rioters are?

The EDL are getting frustrated, they have managed to get to their demo point and their speeches have started, but the sound is poor and most of the EDL have had one too many sherberts.

The result of this is rather a predictable one with EDL turning on EDL.

In the photo you can see EDL steward Dave Bolton from Witham in Essex injured after an altercation with a fellow EDL member.

EDL Fairytales

posted by: Simon Cressy | on: Saturday, 1 September 2012, 14:51

The EDL have a van and stall blaring music outside Waltham Forest College.

Rather bizarrely they are claiming they have 800 demonstrators on the streets of Walthamstow, when in reality they have no more than 300.

Carrying on with fairytales they claim that the local residents are on their doorsteps appauding them as they pass, yet it is the same local residents who have sat down in the middle of the road, blocking the route.

The Police are escorting away groups of Asian youth away from the YMCA.

EDL Demo Site Occupied

posted by: Simon Cressy | on: Saturday, 1 September 2012, 14:00

We are hearing that the proposed EDL demo site has been changed as the original one has been "occupied".

EDL numbers according to eye witnesses say there are 200-300 and no more heading down Forest Road.

There is a massive police operation currently in place, however the EDL have thug spotters on the pavements in the hope of picking off counter protesters. If you are heading to the counter demo please take care.

Perhaps it is because he wants to avoid the EDL leadership whom he has been slagging off at every opportunity recently?
