When right wing extremist Anders Breivik went on his murder spree in Oslo last month, attention predictably turned to England and the far-right extremist English Defence League (EDL), the organisation that inspired the killer.

Despite claiming that his organisation had no official contacts with Breivik and that he condemned the actions of the mass murderer, EDL leader Stephen Yaxley-Lennon claimed in a number of interviews with journalists that in his opinion, the UK was only five years away from the same sort of right wing outrage happening here.

Up and down the country for the last two years we have witnessed dozens of attacks on Muslim and progressive communities as Lennon's private army of racists grew further and further out of control even encouraged fleetingly, by sections of the national media.

News broke last week that finally, the EDL was to be monitored by the same counter terror unit set up after the 7/7 terror attacks. Hope Not Hate has long called for the EDL to be monitored in the same way that Islamic terror groups are.

We are now publishing these photographs of senior EDL members and activists to prove once and for all for any doubters, that the EDL are not just a pressure group with legitimate concerns about radical Islam. They are the flip side of the same coin.

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon says we are five years away from a Breivik styled massacre here. We believe they are already a terror group in the making.

Comment 6 | From: Left Wing Extremist | Date: 1 September 2011, 20:09

You can do more damage with your fists than an air rifle.

Is that a neo-nazi symbol on the t-shirt worn by Steven Wright?

Comment 9 | From: James | Date: 2 September 2011, 09:58

Are they, are they, real pellet guns?

Comment 10 | From: Doktorb | Date: 2 September 2011, 19:56

With permission, I will link to this blog from my own when I write a post about the EDL and their links to the Norwegian nut job.

Anybody else see the ironic but remarkable similarity between these pictures and Taliban propaganda?! Its not race thats different its your mental state.

Comment 12 | From: James Green | Date: 3 September 2011, 11:45

Bunch of time wasting nobodies trying to make themselves feel tough. Also it is very worrying at the same time, although some are air-guns, they're top end powerful one's which could cause alot of damage.

Comment 13 | From: Richard Gough | Date: 3 September 2011, 11:50

Remember, Guns don't kill people. Bigoted twats with guns kill people

Comment 14 | From: Alias23 | Date: 3 September 2011, 11:58

As for the rest, mostly air rifles in both sprung and precharged formats, a crossbow, a few probable replicas, the pistols are CO2 pistols and effectively harmless, the only ones I'd worry about are the two shotguns (Bob Fleming and Jonathan Simon) and I'd recommend they are reported to the police. If they do hold SGCs then I'd recommend their local forces review their tickets in light of their belonging to an extremist political organisation (and I use "political" in the loosest possible sense here).

It could be worse, they could be holding up a severed head! Now where have I seen that before?

Comment 16 | From: lauren | Date: 3 September 2011, 12:15

these muppets couldnt organise a pissup in a brewery. look at their demonstrations hahaha

Comment 17 | From: NotInMyName | Date: 3 September 2011, 12:40

Fortunately, to reassure most people looking at these images from Twitter, etc, the weapons that these morons are posing with are mainly laughable air weapons, imitations (especially the fake WW2 German machine guns) and airsoft "play" weapons. I can't tell with the two shotguns. Idiots, all.

Comment 18 | From: helen | Date: 3 September 2011, 12:54

well I guess it's ok to have an england flag covering your face - these pigs are a disgrace - thank **** I am 12.5K miles away - cuz the tories aren't gonna do a lot to sort em out... they couldn't sort out a few hundred kids who want more climbing frames and swings - 20 years ago we made mud pies and climbed up trees... and before anyone comments I am working class!

Comment 19 | From: John Smith | Date: 3 September 2011, 13:34

hahaha... what nobheads! Are they posing for a calendar or something? Who the hell would want their ugly mugs on their wall?

Comment 20 | From: Catherine Allen | Date: 3 September 2011, 14:43

Well what can you say? Macho hmmm, bet they wish they could afford a Porsche, might not seem so much like penis envy then. I bet their parents are so proud of them. I know what I would like to call them - oh what the heck - what a bunch of tossers!

Comment 21 | From: Stevie | Date: 3 September 2011, 15:09

*****

Comment 22 | From: cockneyreject | Date: 3 September 2011, 15:10

Probably mostly imitation as I doubt they'd have the balls to pose with real guns for fear of getting nicked.....mind you with this scum you never know eh? Tossers!

Comment 23 | From: anne onymous | Date: 3 September 2011, 15:34

The last pictures hits hardest. The others are a typical bunch of shaved-head northern yobs you'd expect to see. But Jonathan Simon looks like a regular person you'd work with, living in London. Just shows you can't be safe anywhere. I'd also like to mention that if you put most of those guys in a soldiers uniform, this would be a 'heroes' page.

Comment 24 | From: DomiKko | Date: 3 September 2011, 18:51

These guys look like a bunch of uneducated, inbred hicks.

Comment 25 | From: RScandle | Date: 3 September 2011, 19:32

Please disregard that last comment.Thanks.

Comment 26 | From: damien | Date: 3 September 2011, 20:34

All the scum carrying these toys look like wannabe terrorists, plus how on earth aren't these scum in a durex condom rotting away...?

Comment 27 | From: paul | Date: 4 September 2011, 08:20

lol Big men. Look like ***** holding guns to me.

Comment 28 | From: Tont Asman | Date: 4 September 2011, 08:25

I doubt these clowns can read the instruction manuals to know how to load them.

Comment 29 | From: Arthur Dent | Date: 4 September 2011, 09:31

Perhaps we should consider expelling people like this before foreigners?

Comment 30 | From: Matt B | Date: 4 September 2011, 11:43

I hope these images have been passed to the police. They're very concerning, & need to be investigated thoroughly.

Comment 31 | From: robin | Date: 4 September 2011, 11:58

Neither hate nor hope are an adequate substitute for honesty and truth, which aren't sufficiently evident here. Note that the EDL leader SL has never been photoed holding any weapons. Note that tories, new labour etc and other eton/oxbridge civilised mass-murdering illegal warmongering people regularly hold the guns they own, and the royal family even attended their recent wedding in military uniforms. So what? Why this drivel you put here? Couldn't be to avoid actually discussing the issues the EDL raise could it?

Comment 32 | From: IHTF | Date: 4 September 2011, 23:58

Is it me or is Steph Wright from Alloa SDL wearing a t-shirt with a neo-nazi symbol on it?

Comment 33 | From: Richard Adair | Date: 5 September 2011, 00:27

Yeah that's pretty scary, but at least they're not armed with Muslamic Ray Guns! ;)

Comment 34 | From: Big Bill | Date: 5 September 2011, 15:52

I just loved the fake plugged pistols ! What a muppet

Comment 35 | From: ruzina begum | Date: 5 September 2011, 20:38

it worries me that they all are in possession of these weapons...on a positive note it's great that there are organisations like Hope not Hate exposing these far right groups for what they really are.

Comment 36 | From: Georgina Fereday | Date: 5 September 2011, 22:09

I couldn’t resist commenting

Comment 37 | From: Tsohgtlvka | Date: 19 December 2011, 03:20

haha half of those are airguns. the '40s nazi submachineguns are a classy touch, though.
