London or bust for the BNP?

Clive Jefferson: Man about town ?

Despite the £500,000 the BNP had to admit receiving yesterday, there seems to be no let up in the internal bickering in the party.

Yesterday I wrote how Mark Walker, the disgraced former schoolteacher, had been removed from his post within the party. Our phone has not stopped ringing since..

Walker would appear to have been the meat in the sandwich between Clive “Rodney” Jefferson, the fast rising star of the BNP incompetence and elections department, and Patrick Harrington who is the non-party member who represents the BNP (poorly) in numerous tribunal appearances and heads up the scab faux Trade Union Solidarity.

Patrick has now jumped on his legendary (white no doubt) steed to come to the defence of his chum Mark and has now begun an internal appeal against Mark’s dismissal. We’re pretty certain this has all the hallmarks of another great BNP internal dustup at a time when they could well do without it. It’s a shame that renowned gambler Martin Wingfield no longer works from the offices of the BNP because of a rift with Jefferson, because I’m sure he’d be taking bets on it too.

Internal arguments do tend to surface in the BNP at election times, who can forget that in 2010 the BNP’s webmaster Simon Bennett pulled the plug on the party’s website on election eve? You can read more here.

Few in the BNP seem surprised or particularly distressed by Walker’s dismissal, more are interested in the news that Clive Jefferson is allegedly the sole executor of £500,000 left to the party. As well as trying to crush all dissent and opposition to his role as party treasurer and elections officer, Jefferson has been hitting branches hard to cough up for the BNP’s London campaign, leaving many organisers exasperated at just how much money party centre has been sucking out of the regions, leaving virtually nothing for anyone else.

Last night the BNP emailed people telling them that yes it was true, the party has been left £500,000 and apparently, they’re going to spend it on a newspaper for the London elections. Cue more angst from the rest of the party. Clive Jefferson it appears has set himself the target of winning back the seat the party lost on the GLA when Richard Barnbrook got up and staggered out of the BNP last year forcing his expulsion from the party later. You can read about Barnbrook here

Jefferson will be desperate to win this one. If he doesn’t Harrington, Walker, Wingfield and more than a few others will be ready to pounce on Rodney’s back.
