Barnbrook gets elected to the London Asembly

The BNP has one person on the London Assembly after the party polled 5.4%. While this is a significant breakthrough for the BNP, and gives them a platform in intervene in every aspect of London life, it is still far below what the BNP themselves were expecting.

This is obviously terrible news for London, but the BNP may have got more than 1 Assembly Member had it not been for the Hope not Hate campaign.

A word of consolation. If not for the sterling work and many hours of going around London (and of course the UK) by Hope Not Hate, the Daily Mirror, and other organisations, political and non-political who stand against the divisive cancer that racism is, Robert Bailey and even Nick Eriksen would be joining Barnbrook at City Hall. I could see this coming, particularly given the media's one-track obsession with immigration. But 5.4%, not 5.4% of Londoners but 5.4% of the registered voters of London (big difference there) still says to me that London has said no to the nazi BNP. As for Barnbrook, his election (careful how I type that!) will make no difference to the overwhelming non-racist majority in the capital. Finally, congratulations Boris!

It was disappointing to see the BNP gaining two seats in Nuneaton & Bedworth (where they previously had none) despite some strong local campaigning against them. A clear indicator that Labour are losing the battle as they dropped a total of six, four of these going to the Conservatives.

Chris, people in Nuneaton will see for themselves over the coming year the real BNP. Do nothing, say nothing positive, tell more lies, pour more petrol on the fire.
