Clearing the backlog

I managed to have a day off yesterday, though there's always a sting in the tail. I'm back at work this morning to find hundreds of emails waiting for me, 155 blog replies to respond to and postcards to design up. And that is to say nothing of the July issue of the Searchlight magazine which needs to be put together over the next few days. Obviously we'll be looking at the result and the consequences of the BNP getting elected but we'll also be trying to offer a way forward. The political situation has changed and we need to critically assess how we deal with the BNP threat now.
To do that we need to understand who votes for the BNP and more importantly, why. We all have our own opinions but more often than not this is based on our own political prejudices and not on any research.
The Not in my name petition is going well. We now have over 63,500 people signed up. thanks for everyone who has, especially the 4,000 people who have sent in photos. We'll be putting these pictures to good use very shortly.
I'm attaching one from the collection.

To fight the BNP the major parties will need to address the underlying issues that BNP supporters are concerned about, which are basically: becoming a "white minority", immigration and the EU getting too powerful and taking over their lives. Just smearing the BNP isn't going to work, especially since the smears aren't totally accurate. For example you say that the BNP wants to deport all immigrants, but anyone can go to http://bnp.org.uk/policies and see that they only want to deport ILLEGAL immigrants. There's a big difference. If you add up all the Euro election results you find there are now approx one million people in the UK supporting the BNP. That is a frighteningly large number of people. And I don't think a single one of them is going to turn around and say: the BNP is racist?! I must stop voting for them immediately! To stop people voting BNP the BNP's rug must be pulled out from under them, ie, the government must deal with the major issues that concern BNP voters. Otherwise the BNP will just grow and grow and one day they'll BE the government!

Please would you make sure you highlight the results in Copeland in your post-election Searchlight edition. We're such a remote part of the country it's easy to forget about us, but there were some shocking results in some places. For example, the BNP recorded 30.9% of the vote in Kells & Sandwith which is more than they recorded anywhere where they actually won a county council seat. Several neighbouring wards were not that far behind. Please don't let there be a repeat of the "Foot & Mouth" debacle when the media were banging on about Devon for a fortnight, only to belatedly wake up to the fact that things were actually worse in Cumbria...

I HAVE AN IDEA, ALL BLACK AND ASIANS SHOULD JOIN THE BNP AND BECOME MEMBERS, LETS SEE HOW THEY REACT TO THIS. SURELY IT WILL BE AN EMBARRSMENT TO THEM IF WE JOIN EN-MASSE AND EXPOSE THEIR RACIST ORIGINS.

I'm not sure what I'm replying to here as not much has been said. So I'll argue about something else namely: The BNP’s answer to violent crime is to allow every household to have a gun. We kid you not. This barmy idea was in the BNP’s 2005 general election manifesto. Surely, you can't be serious about this statement. It is bollocks. It is an excellent idea so why put it down. The reason why you are wrong is obvious and you should know. If you believe in equality you can't get more equal than this.

Any political party that only allows white people to join is nothing other than completely RACIST and that is blindingly obvious even though we've had all these years of Griffin attempting to portray his organisation as non-racist. As for the gun issue, two wrongs certainly do not make a right!
