A poor third in Tameside

Hot on the heals of our good campaign in Stockport I´m pleased to say that we prevented the BNP from making another breakthrough in Greater Manchester when they finished a poor third in a council by-election in Tameside last Thursday.

Despite polling strongly in the borough in the European Elections, the BNP gained on 13% of the vote in the Denton North East ward. The campaign saw another localised leaflet being handed out by HOPE not hate activists from across the area. What was most encouraging was that several new people, alarmed at Nick Griffin´s election to the European Parliament, got involved.
The ground has now been set for sustained HOPE not hate activity across the Greater Manchester area.

We will be holding the first of almost 20 Organiser Schools in Manchester on Saturday 5 September. Details will be released shortly. This will be aimed at Greater Manchester activists, with further training events being planned for Liverpool and Preston for early October.
