Back in the groove

I’m writing this on the train back from Stoke-on-Trent, where I met up with NorSCARF activists to discuss next year’s elections. It was my first opportunity to meet them since the European Elections so it also gave us a chance to reflect on what had been.
I have to say that it was a really productive meeting. There were several new people (to me at least) present and also representatives from other organisations. No-one was deluding themselves about the threat we face but I’m quietly confident that we run our best campaign to date. And there is a lot at stake. Next year, three of the nine BNP councillors are up for re-election, including group leader Alby Walker, so we can make a real dent in their chances in the all-out elections in 2011, if we can substantially weaken their grip parts on the city this time round.
No sooner as I had got back on the train then it was a quick catch up with the BSD guys and plans for a whole number of emails to go out later this week.
I must admit that the European Election and its immediate aftermath left me physically drained. I’ve had a rest and now I’m raring to go!
