Violence in Birmingham authorities to blame

Unfortunately violence erupted on the streets of Birmingham this afternoon as the hooligan followers of the English Defence League descended on the city centre. While reports are sketchy, it seems that the hooligans ignored agreements with police and ran through New Street. According to press reports at the height of the trouble over 250 were involved.
Sadly it was all too predictable. For several days Searchlight and others have been warning the authorities of the potential trouble. The English Defence League is a collection of racist football hooligans from around the country and their sole intention is to whip up hatred. With several of its leaders already well known to the police as football hooligans it is hardly a surprise that violence has erupted today. However, despite the obvious the authorities repeatedly told us that they had the situation under control.
They did not and they should be held to account. West Midlands Police and Birmingham City Council have failed the people of Birmingham.

I have contacted Respect Birmingham councillor Salma Yaqoob as I want a motion of no confidence brought against the Council by Labour and Respect for ignoring the warnings and subsequently, in two fascist marches, admirably shaming our wonderful multiracial and proud City of Birmingham in front of the whole wide world. We in Birmingham will suffer commercially because of this in a time when we cannot afford to tell visitors to our City and inhabitants alike 'don't come into town today because the EDL fascist hooligans are coming to town and there's nothing we can do to stop them' Nick,I do hope this does not discourage HnH from organising positive activities in our City as you have many many supporters here.

Absolutely disgusting by not just the fascist EDL but by both the W.M.P and the B.C.C too, my praise goes out those brave men & women who tied their up-most best to block the fascists from getting to their destination. Always and forever, !NO PASSARAN!

The Chief Constable of the West Midlands Police must surely do the honourable thing now and resign for failing to protect the citizens of Birmingham from the football hooligans. Like all fascists, they take pride in double-crossing people who do deals with them. Just as Stalin did a deal with Hitler, the Chief Constable agreed terms of engagement with the EDL Casuals, which should have meant the football hooligans would stick to their designated area, but just like their idol Adolf Hitler, the nazis doublecrossed the deal-makers once again, leaving the Chief Constable with plenty of egg on his face. If a bunch of ragtag soccer bootboys can outsmart the entire high-tech West Midlands force to create a riot that the squad insisted could not and would not happen, the sword must fall on his head. So do the honourable thing, please, Mister Chief Constable, and resign. Yes, it will mean losing your salary, and possibly some of your pension but YOU DIDN'T DO YOUR JOB!!! Don't worry, there's plenty of jobs going as nightclub bouncers, which, to put it frankly, is up your street, as you couldn't handle a piss-up in a proverbial brewery. You're just a clown!!!

So we told them. They didn't listen. That means the Birmingham electorate have to punish these councillors, send them packing back into the real world of actually having to work for a living. I implore HNH to jog people's memory at the next election.
