Griffin is backtracking
Griffin is backtracking

Last week I reported on Griffin’s extraordinary claims that the hooligan-based English Defence League had been set up by Zionists in order to spark a religious war between Christians and Muslims on the streets of Britain in order to give Israel the justification to nuke Arab countries.

(I’m not making this up – read http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/blog/article/520/BNP-blame-Zionists-for-EDL for the full story!)

Well, it seems that Griffin is backtracking as a posting on the party’s website – put up today – doesn’t mention the Zionists but simply that the EDL is a honeytrap set up by the State or left wing organisations (I guess he’s meaning us!)

The BNP is proscribing the EDL and any of its members who get involved risk being expelled from the party.

However, the BNP disciplinary committee might be quite busy over the next few weeks as it is clear that there are a growing number of BNP members who are defying their leadership’s instructions. The EDL is seen positively by many of the BNP’s rank and file not least because from their perspective it is taking the fight to the enemy. There is growing disquiet within BNP ranks at the lack of party activity since the European Elections, with some now openly saying that the leadership is more interested in enjoying the EU gravy train rather than campaigning in local communities.

The EDL is proving a headache for the BNP and Griffin et al just don’t seem to know how to handle it.
