This afternoon the HOPE not hate campaign organised a letter writing campaign to people in the European Union complaining about the apparent misuse of public funds by the BNP. The two BNP MEPs are using £400,000 in expenses to bankroll their party. Most of the 14 people being paid by the EU are in leadership positions in the party. At least 10 are standing in the BNP’s top targets in the general election and even the man who is co-ordinating their election campaign, including their bid for control of Barking & Dagenham council, is on the payroll.

The taxpayer is funding the BNP’s election effort and this is totally unacceptable.

We are calling on the EU Fraud Office and the EU Ombudsman to investigate and hopefully put an end to this grotesque misuse of public money.
