We are together

It's been a long but fruitful day. Plans are really coming together for our Peace vigil in Bradford a week tomorrow. Details of a time and venue will be announced tomorrow but our aim is to have a local, Bradford-orientated, event.

This will be an opportunity for local people to show their opposition to the EDL. We are not encouraging people from outside Bradford to attend, though of course eveyone is welcome. This is for local people, and as has shown with our huge petition, there are more than enough Bradfordians who are opposed to the racist EDL.

Sadly I had the mispleasure to take a look at the Facebook for the EDL fascist group, and noticed comments joking about the people who died in the Pakistan floods. I was shocked and sickened. Nobody can tell me that the EDL are not neonazis. Sadly they seem to be just that. Who else could be as racist and as callous to wish Muslim people dead? Only neonazis. The peace vigil is an excellent idea, but how will the police protect Asian Bradfordians from 10,000 EDLers taking part in a static protest, as I read on Facebook that hundreds of coaches have already been booked for Bradford? Everyone is saying the police will be outnumbered by the racist thugs, which would spell absolute disaster if they start behaving like pack animals and start randomly attacking passing non-white people throughout the city centre. Can the police be everywhere at once for the "static protest" if the EDL don't allow themselves to be kettled in the same area? All shops should shut for their own safety, and bus drivers and taxis should take a day off work. If life continues as normal, people could get hurt, as in Dudley when the thugs broke the police cordon and went on the rampage. What worries me is how the police say that they have everything under control. Maybe for 500 EDL, but not 10,000 EDL. I shudder to think what will happen if so many drunken EDL fascists turn up and take over Bradford with force. Shoppers, workers, and take aways could find themselves in the firing line. Also, if nobody is arrested for racist chanting, which other police forces have shamefully tolerated, vigilantes may take over leading to another riot. Why are EDLers not arrested for chanting such inflamatory chants as "Allah Is A Paedo?" Surely everyone who chants this should be bundled into the back of a line of police vans, detained overnight, and arrested for a breach of the peace, for trying to incite a riot, which is a serious offence. Will the West Yorkshire Police be turning a "blind ear" to the hundreds if not thousands of racist and inflamatory chanters, the faces of whom will be captured on close circuit TV and riot van cams? Friends of mine went to Bolton and they said that hundreds of EDL hooligan types were allowed to use the P-word without being arrested? Maybe static marches cannot be banned, and coaches full of thugs and troublemakers cannot be quietly turned back on motorways, but if the existing laws of the land are not utilised, and the police allow racist chants to be tolerated, then a riot will happen. Bad policing breeds riots.
