Tommy Robinson Quits British Freedom

Tommy Robinson aka Stephen Yaxley Lennon, leader of the English Defence League has just announced that he is standing down as joint deputy leader of the miniscule British Freedom Party.

Posting on his Twitter account he wrote " I have today resinged(sic) from my position with #Britishfreedom i wish to concentrate on edl. i dont have the passion 4 anything but #edl"

"A full statement will be released later. I still wish kev etc the best. Just not for me."

Kev is of course Kevin Carroll, who is the other joint deputy leader and BFP candidate in the forthcoming Bedfordshire Police Commissioner election.

Speculation is rife over the real reason for his sudden resignation with the most likely explanation the fact that he has several court cases soon to be heard, with any possible guilty verdicts being potentially embarrassing for British Freedom.

When questioned on Twitter by a supporter, Robinson seemed to accept that the EDL was possibly a busted flush.

CamHendo wrote "@EDLTrobinson I have nothing but respect for you but the EDL are going nowhere, Demonstrations are doing nothing, its all about the politics"

Tommy's telling reply was "@_camhendo i agree. But for me to stand in politics it could only be under the banner edl. As i said i wasn't for me."

Knew the alliance couldn't last long...any agreement within the far right is a million times more fragile than any more obvious Co-alition. Tommy's beligerence and penchant for violent confrontation is too much of a lure than politics, but it could also be a question of 'brand power' here, that is, he realises his EDL moniker is more talked about than that of Paul Weston and Jim Dowson's British Freedom. Maybe he 'resinged' because Dowson told him it's spelled R-E-S-I-G-N and I myself is always a capital letter, and Robinson violently disagreed, calling him a 'politically correct grammarist' or something daft.

The EDL is a single issue group and so are their political counterparts at BF. They'll end up being taken over by UKIP or BNP, which frankly are a much better set-up which could really go somewhere.

As for being a better set up, they're better at embezzlement and conning their dwindling membership....and the EDL/Infidels etc. are obviously learning from them!!!
