Let's turn this anger into action

posted by: Nick Lowles | on: Tuesday, 5 March 2013, 21:00

We have been inundated with messages of support since we put up the two videos of the fascist bully boy antics in Harold Hill on Sunday. People have been particularly shocked by the disgusting abuse directed at two of our activists.

I, like everyone else who has watched the video, felt sick at the bullying of this couple. Fifteen onto two sums up these cowards.

Today we called on our supporters to channel their anger by getting even. We asked them to help us raise £3,000 to pay for 200,000 leaflets so we could oppose the BNP in every ward they will be standing in May.

I'm delighted to say that we have already raised £2,465. We need just another £535 to reach our target. It would be great if we could reach that tomorrow.

Tomorrow we will also be encouraging our supporters to complain to the police to ensure that they take action, but more of that then. In the meantime, please do help us raise the £535 we need.

Mark - call me old fashioned but if I see a racist, homophobic or anti-Semitic comment on the bottom of any newspaper website, if their logo is at the top then not only does it imply that the publication can't be a***d with enforcing its online code of conduct, it actually makes that publication racist/homophobia/anti-Semitism friendly...and the far right MMU trolls know this. No amount of disclaimers can change this, if there's a racist comment on the Daily Rhubarb website with the logo of the Daily Rhubarb at the top, it makes the Daily Rhubarb a publication that actively supports racism and other hate. Simple common sense!!

Correction - the 16 comments are still there (sory, misjudged when I said 26), and it makes very ugly reading (more than one poster refers to Muslims as paedophiles): http://www.romfordrecorder.co.uk/news/bnp_supporters_in_ugly_confrontation_outside_harold_wood_station_1_1969851

What is really daunting is to see all the pro-BNP comments on the Romford Recorder's news page covering the story. Key words are "paedophiles", "locals", "muslims" (surprise, surprise). UPDATE: There were a total of 26 such comments - I've just refreshed the page and they appear to have been taken down.
