BNP boss cheats on Britain’s war dead

Lying, cheating and deceit are the BNP's stock in trade, as Searchlight has proved many times. For example, the party's Welsh election broadcast, which purported to portray a negative image of life in Wales today, was a fabrication, as contrary to the BNP's claims, none of it was filmed in Wales.

The BNP's English election broadcast on 28 May was another cheat, as this Press Association story explains:

National Trust Considering Legal Action Against BNP

The National Trust was considering legal action tonight after the British National Party filmed an election broadcast on its land without permission.

The party political broadcast was aired on May 28, and showed BNP leader Nick Griffin speaking in front of a war memorial on the white cliffs of Dover in Kent.

However, a spokesman for the National Trust insisted that it had not consented to the filming.

Head of media Julian Lloyd said: "This is National Trust land, and it's clearly signposted. The whole thing was done without the Trust's knowledge, and we would require anybody filming to ask permission.

"There had been no attempt to contact us," he added.

The Trust's charitable status made it impossible to allow any political party to film on its land, according to Mr Lloyd.

"It's a statutory obligation for us not to be involved in political activity."

Mr Lloyd said the Trust – which operates independent of government and cares for land including almost 600 miles of coastline in England, Wales and Northern Ireland – were now considering the best way of dealing with the situation.

The possibility of legal action had not been ruled out, according to Mr Lloyd.

"We have turned the incident over to an internal team and are following up all options available to us," he added.
