NICEM crisis fund fundraiser

John Hewitt Bar, Belfast: Wed 13 Oct 2010
As you will be aware the current system of immigration legislation in Northern Ireland excludes many categories of non-UK nationals from accessing even the most basic means of support including homelessness assistance. As the government has not ring-fenced any money to help such individuals facing destitution, often voluntary sector organizations are their only source of help.
NICEM is holding a fund raising concert for our own “Crisis fund” account. This will enable us to provide temporary basic assistance to individuals in desperate situations who have no access to public funds. The concert will take place at the John Hewitt bar on 13th October from 7.30pm and will feature the talents of local musicians and a raffle with some fantastic prizes.
As the John Hewitt is a public bar, we cannot charge on the door.
We will instead have fund raising buckets and people in NICEM Tshirts encouraging punters to donate.
You are very welcome to join us on the night and bring your friends, family etc. We hope this is the start of several fund raising activities that will see our Crisis Fund balance increase!
