A man who was to stand for the British National Party in the General Election has been arrested in an investigation into party activities.

Tom Lyndon, 47, of Harrogate, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of incitement to commit racial hatred.

In July, the BBC documentary The Secret Agent featured covertly-filmed footage of BNP activists.

Fourteen other men, including party leader Nick Griffin, have been released on police bail.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman confirmed a 15th man had been arrested and was being questioned by officers.

BNP spokesman Phil Edwards said Mr Lyndon was intending to stand as a parliamentary candidate for one of the Bradford constituencies at the next election.

On Thursday, three of the 15 men appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court charged with racially aggravated intentional harassment as part of the investigation.

Steve Barkham, Keith Webster and Richard O'Grady, all of Bradford, were granted bail and the case was adjourned until 10 March.
