BNP exposes its candidates to public scrutiny

The BNP lined up 16 of its London and Home Counties candidates in Parliament Square, central London, on 20 March and our photographer was there to record the moment for history.

What our picture does not show is how the assembled fascists in their best suits set up a production line to record a 30 second election sound bite in front of the lens of the BNP's ace cameraman Rod Gordon. Some were unable to keep going for the full 30 seconds and others clearly should have spent more time rehearsing in front of a mirror. If you can stand it, you can watch these clips on BNP TV via the BNP website.

Keen StoptheBNP website visitors will notice some interesting changes since the BNP's London election rally, held in Brentwood, Essex, which we reported on 5 February. Among the missing are Cllr Patricia Richardson, whose promised constituency failed to materialise, and Jason "The Lump" Douglas, removed as the BNP's candidate for Romford. Maybe our references in his case to football hooliganism and Essex man were spot on.

Dave King had been announced as the BNP candidate for Billericay, which we thought was odd because he had fallen out with the party leadership. His candidature now seems to have vanished without trace, as has that of Nick Geri, who has also had differences with the power brokers in the BNP. He had been listed to fight Thurrock.

Cllr Patricia Richardson won the booby prize by being able to invite the well known thuggish BNP national elections officer Eddy Butler as her guest at an Epping Forest District Council civic dinner on 1 April. One might wonder who is the bigger fool here: the council or Mrs Richardson.

Our line-up of BNP candidates shows:
1. Tim Rait (Maidenhead)
2. Cliff LeMay (Uxbridge)
3. Jay Lee (Bexleyheath and Crayford)
4. Barry Roberts (Eltham)
5. Cllr Terry Farr (Enfield North)
6. John McCaffrey (Romford)
7. Andrew Emerson (Broxbourne)
8. Bryn Robinson (Billericay)
9. Brian Ravenscroft (Erith and Thamesmead)
10. Julian Leppert (Epping Forest)
11. Tony Hazel (Hayes and Harlington)
12. Richard Barnbrook (Barking) 13. Lawrence Rustem (Dagenham)
14. Emma Colegate (Basildon and East Thurrock)
15. Roger Robertson (Basingstoke)
16. Ian Moore (Hornchurch)
