War veterans’ anger at BNP ‘hypocrisy’

ANGRY veterans have condemned footage of British National Party members laying wreaths at Dagenham's war memorial as "hypocritical".

A video of BNP leader Nick Griffin and Goresbrook by-election candidate Lawrence Rustem laying wreaths at the memorial in Church Elm Lane, has been distributed around the ward in the lead up to the election next week.

Frank Meehan, chairman of the Dagenham British Legion, said: "I'm not too happy at all. The Legion and the war memorial is there for ex-servicemen who fought against all this nonsense.

"Now they want to go down there and lay a wreath on it. They are bloody hypocrites."
