Becontree, Dagenham by-election 14 July 2005
| Wednesday, 22 June 2005 Source: Searchlight
Hot on the anti-BNP campaign in the Goresbrook by-election, where the response from a broad alliance of anti-fascists has been tremendous, we have already started work in Becontree, which the BNP believes it can win. Because of its lack of activists who live in the borough of Barking and Dagenham itself, the BNP has been forced to adopt a candidate, John Luisis, who has no track record in the BNP or the local community.
The Together groups, Searchlight, the trade union movement, Labour, Liberal Democrats and Green Party are already working towards defeating the BNP in Becontree. We are holding days of action on the last two Saturdays before polling day – 2 July and 9 July, and call on all everyone opposed to the BNP and their message of hate to join us. We will have a new leaflet exposing how the BNP always fails the community and uses lies in a bid to stoke up fear and resentment.
Please pass this message on to friends, neighbours and colleagues.
Saturday 2 July Mass leaflet distribution, from 10.30am until late afternoon.
Saturday 9 July Mass leaflet distribution, from 10.30am until late afternoon.
Meet at The Labour Hall, Junction of Tenterden Road and Green Lane, Dagenham. (nearest stations Dagenham Heathway and Chadwell Heath, buses 5, 87, 103, 150, 173, 175 pass nearby)
Please bring cars wherever possible for transport to designated streets in the ward.
