Humiliation in Bournemouth

| Thursday, 29 December 2005 Source: Searchlight

BNP activists and anti-fascists are puzzled why the BNP's self-styled elections guru Eddy Butler is still in post after an unbroken record of election failures since September 2004. Speculation has it that the party cannot sack him because he knows where the political bodies are buried.

The BNP leadership was very keen to show the flag in Bournemouth because of the disastrous fallout in the area after critics of Nick Griffin were suspended, were expelled or resigned, and a new organiser was brought in who was hardly out of short pants. The youngster did not last very long in the job.

The humiliating result achieved by Barry Bennett, the party's local organiser, should be another nail in Butler's political coffin but we doubt it.

The BNP says the result "confirms the BNP as very much part and parcel of the town's electoral scene" – yes, as the lunatic fringe part.

Result: Littledown and Iford ward, Bournemouth 1 December 2005
