Anti-BNP activities Redbridge and Barking

The British National Party is currently trying to consolidate and extend its council election gains in May, which left it with six councillors in Debden on Epping Forest council, one in Hainault, Redbridge, and 11 in Barking and Dagenham.

The BNP is contesting the by-election in Bridge ward, Redbridge, which takes place on 13 July. The candidate is Danny Warville, the BNP's London counter-intelligence officer. The local Together Groups are campaigning vigorously against the BNP between now and polling day.

• Wednesday 28 June 6.30pm Barking Town Hall
• Sunday 2 July 11am leafleting in Bridge ward
• Wednesday 12 July 6.45pm Area 3 meeting (includes BNP councillor Hainault)
• Thursday 20 July 6.30pm Ilford Town Hall

Wednesday 28 June at 6.30pm
Join Barking and Dagenham Together outside Barking Town Hall for a picket of the council meeting. We hope for strong support from trade unionists and other local people.

The Town Hall is five minutes' walk from the main bus routes and Barking station. Please bring your organisation's banners.

Sunday 2 July at 11am
Mass leafleting in Bridge ward. Meet at the Snakes Lane East exit of Woodford station.

Wednesday 12 July at 6.45pm
Attend a meeting of the Area 3 Committee at Fullwell Cross Library, Barkingside High Street.

These meetings make certain local decisions and enable residents to discuss local issues with councillors and others. Area 3 includes Hainault, where Julian Leppert is the BNP councillor. This is an opportunity for Redbridge residents and people who work or study in the borough to express their views on having a BNP councillor, who is sure to turn up with his bodyguards. Come and see local democracy in action.

Thursday 20 July at 6.30pm
Redbridge full council meeting. We want an inclusive demonstration called and supported by as many community, trade union and other organisations as possible to show that the majority of people in Redbridge have no time for fascist councillors. Meet outside Ilford Town Hall, Oakfield Road, Ilford (off pedestrianised section of Ilford High Road).
