Fiasco over new homes for 'outsiders'

A BITTER row has broken out over claims that three in four homes on a new estate have been reserved for 'foreign' families.
A leaflet published by the British National Party claims that 75 per cent of new homes in Gale Street, Dagenham, will be 'given to outsiders.'
But the council has hit back at the allegation, insisting that 71 per cent of their allocation has gone to those describing their ethnic origin as 'white/ British.'
The new development on the former site of the Pipers pub is made up of 58 separate flats. Of these, 21 are allocated by the council through the More Choice in Lettings scheme.
Six will go to tenants from other boroughs - which is a compulsory requirement for this type of development.
