EXTREME right-wing literature and more than 40 CS gas canisters have been found in a house on a city estate.

Police swooped on the property in Ely, Cardiff, after concerns from residents and arrested two people.

Officers from the Ely Neighbourhood Team carried out the raid in Pyle Road on Wednesday afternoon and found white powder believed to be amphetamine, 42 canisters of CS Gas and the extreme right-wing propaganda.

A 39-year-old man and 29-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs and offensive weapons.

Inspector Andy Smith, from Ely police station, said: "We recovered a number of items which were of interest. Both people were interviewed in relation to these matters and are on police bail."

The only people authorised to carry CS canisters in the UK are police officers.

Inspector Smith added: "It's an unusual activity in this area which was concerning local residents who passed information onto the police.

"Following the execution of the search warrant the neighbourhood policing team increased patrols to reassure the community and delivered leaflets."
