A SCHOOL governor is standing as a right-wing British National Party candidate in the Euro Parliamentary elections.

Tony North, 56, believes the children of asylum seekers should be refused an education in Britain.

He said: "I don't think there should be asylum seekers in this country.

"It is entirely sensible not to lump our children with children who come from the four corners of the earth.

"The asylum policy is a complete shambles and the fallout from this is found in our classrooms."

Mr North is a parent-governor at Furzeham primary school in Brixham, Devon, which has 280 pupils, six of them from ethnic minorities.

Michael Pudney, chairman of Torbay Conservative Association ,said: "His views are abhorrent."

Last month, teacher Simon Smith was suspended from St Peter's Catholic School in Solihull because he is standing as the BNP's Euro candidate in The West Midlands.
