Demonstrate against BNP conference in Blackpool

The BNP annual conference takes place over the weekend of 17-18 November, with a training and meetings day on Saturday and the conference proper on Sunday. The BNP is currently engrossed in internal disputes with activists attacking each other all over the place. Several have resigned from their positions or left the party altogether, fed up with what is going on.

We need to reinforce the despondency within the party, as well as show the world that these fascists and racists who would divide our community are not welcome in Blackpool, or anywhere else.

The demonstration will take place in front of the New Kimberley Hotel, which the BNP has booked for the weekend, at 12 noon.

The New Kimberley Hotel is at 585-589 New South Promenade, Blackpool FY4 1NQ roughly two miles south of Blackpool Tower. There is a large image of the hotel here and a map showing its location at here.

If you would like to join the trade union march to the hotel or you intend to arrive in a coach, you might prefer to park at Starr Gate, half a mile further south, where the police have designated an area for a meeting and parking point at Starr Gate (A584) Blackpool, here. If you intend to do this, be at Starr Gate at a little before noon for when the march sets off.

  • We URGENTLY need megaphones. If anyone can bring one for use at the demo, please email lancaster.uaf@zen.co.uk.
  • We'd like a lot of noise (when the speakers aren't saying anything) so bring anything you've got that will let the BNP know we're out there. Trumpets, drums, whistles and loud voices are all welcome.
  • If you take any good pictures on the day that LancasterUAF might be able to use on the blog, let them know on lancaster.uaf@zen.co.uk.
  • One word of warning. As those who were at the demo last year can tell you, Blackpool is cold in November, particularly on the seafront. Wear warm clothing.
  • Safety first. Whether arriving or leaving the demo, do so in a group where possible. We don't expect any problems but it would be foolish to take risks.

Having said all that, it looks like it's going to be a great demo and it'll certainly show the BNP that they are not wanted in Blackpool.

Keep warm, keep safe and enjoy yourselves!
