Hats off to the BNP

HATS off, as ever, to the British National Party, who last week were able to trumpet a number of local election candidates in North Wales, many of whom were guaranteed election as they were running unopposed.
One of these was Neil Hughes who, as one of eight candidates to fill eight vacancies in Kinmel Bay Ward for Towyn and Kinmel Bay Town Council on May 1, was set to take up his seat.
That was, of course, had anyone bothered to tell him he was standing. As it was, he had to find out from a Daily Post reporter who called him.
“I’m shocked,” he said.
“A BNP man came to our house three weeks ago and asked me to sign papers. I thought I was supporting someone else to stand. I don’t want to stand. I’m annoyed about this.”
Asked for his views on immigration, Mr Hughes said: “I don’t want to say anything. I’m a bit confused.”
The BNP: a finely-honed electoral machine.
