BNP Threat

The British National Party's efforts in next month's elections pose the biggest challenge to democracy since Hitler, a top trade unionist has warned.
In a letter to be sent more than a million members of the AMICUS union next week, Roger Lyons accused the far-right party of attempting to put fascism into the mainstream.
And while candidates are expected to contest London Assembly elections and council seats nationwide, he warned of the particular dangers posed by the fact the European polls are based on proportional representation.
He said: "This years represents the biggest and most threatening challenge to democracy in this country since the defeat of Hitler and the Nazis in World War Two."
Lyons, who visited Auschwitz with the Holocaust Educational Trust this year, added: "We owe it to the millions who perished, and those few who survived to commit ourselves against this evil and seek support from family and friends to use our votes on 10 June to firmly exclude the BNP."
