Matthew is one of the most talented and smart political operatives I know. For those who don’t know Matthew, he brings many years of incredible political and campaigning experience from both sides of the Atlantic to our organisation.
Most notably, he played a key role in the 2012 Presidential elections as the head of Barack Obama’s digital attack operation tasked with targeting Mitt Romney’s credibility. He has worked for the Labour Party, digital agency Blue State Digital, and is currently employed as head of digital at the New York-based political consultancy Precision Strategies.
Matthew will be joining HOPE not hate at a really exciting time. We have recently appointed Tom Godwin as our new head of organising & training and we have also welcomed Patrik Hermansson, who has spent the last year inside the international alt-right for us, to our research team as a data analyst.
We have recently launched an organisation in the US and over the next few weeks we will be announcing several new initiatives in the UK. Matthew’s expertise will add massive value to our campaigning and political work, our ability to respond quickly and decisively to unfolding events, and help advise and shape our intervention in the US.
At the heart of these decisions are our concern with the growing challenges thrown up by Brexit and rising divisions within our communities. Our growth and expansion serves to tackle the urgent issues facing our society head on, to allow us to continue our tradition of building support and resistance from the ground up – driven by you, our supporters.
Matthew is excited to return back to the UK to take on this pressing fight alongside all of us.
