Apply to be our new Social Media Lead

HOPE not hate is the UK’s leading anti-fascist campaigning organisation. Our social media channels have helped to tell our stories – of our research successes, even offoiling a murder plot, have inspired and mobilises our community of supporters, and promoted our training and our work in schools countering prejudice and hate.

We’re looking for a social media specialist who is passionate about our cause to join our Campaigns and Communications team of six. You’ll work with people across the team to use social media to hit our goals, supporting the work of your colleagues, and inspiring our supporters through online engagement.

On this page you’ll find details of what the role entails, the kind of person we’re looking for, and how to apply.

If you’re passionate about pushing back the rise of the far right and building hope, thrive when challenged to be creative with content, care about helping colleagues use social media, and want to campaign with supporters across the country, we want to hear from you.

Applications close at 10am on 2 June.

What you’ll be doing in this role

We’re looking for someone who understands, and is passionate about, HOPE not hate’s mission. In this role, we need someone who can:

  • Develop and own our social media strategy to run successful campaigns and promote the work of the wider organisation
  • Oversee the execution of our social media programme working in collaboration with your colleagues
  • Assist with the development of graphics for use on our social media feeds – ideally, you’ll have experience of developing visual identities, and of creative design
  • Make video clips, audiograms and other content for use on social media to bring our messages to life
  • Continue to develop the HNH digital community of HNH supporters, especially on Facebook, developing content and actions they can engage with to feel part of our movement

What we think you’ll need to be able to do the job

We expect applicants to show a range of experiences:

  • We want someone who loves to campaign, to mobilise supporters, and to get results
  • We want you to show us you how to build and manage social media accounts, and deliver high quality campaigns on social media platforms – whether that’s for an organisation, campaigns you support, or even your own channels
  • We need someone who is highly organised, and experienced in using social media management tools such as Hootsuite, and in analysing the data behind our content to improve our programmes over time

You will have emotional resilience to work in a field that involves challenging content, good judgement and political awareness and the ability to work under pressure and reduced timescales.
