Yorkshire and Humber MEP Andrew Brons has today resigned from the BNP and is poised to launch a new party with others who have left the BNP over the last few years.

The new party is expected to be called the British Democratic Party and it will be an amalgamation of several small groupings on the British far right.

The idea of a new party first emerged in the Spring of 2011 when barrister Adrian Davies registered a party with the electoral commission in anticipation that Brons would break with the BNP. But time and again Brons bottled it but it seems his patience has finally run out.

In his resignation statement Brons cites his treatment at the hands of party leader Nick Griffin rather than any political differences. That’s quite lucky really because the new party will include some of the most hardline racists, antisemites and Holocaust deniers in the UK.

The new party might describe itself as ‘Democratic’ but with the toxic gaggle of extremists within it it will be anything but.
